At LapsoWork we have been convinced for years that human resources software for SMEs has to do more than log hours: it should help companies become more productive without turning people into a monitored number. That conviction is where Verso 20 comes from, our R&D&I project, whose purpose is to develop advanced technological solutions that optimise workplace productivity without compromising employees’ privacy.

Transforming human resources management with advanced technology

People management has changed more in recent years than in the previous three decades. Remote work, flexible schedules and the legal obligation to keep reliable time tracking have multiplied the amount of data an SME generates about its workforce. The challenge is no longer collecting it, but processing it in a way that is useful, secure and respectful of every person’s rights.

Verso 20 tackles that challenge head-on. Rather than accumulating sensitive information with no clear criteria, the project investigates how to extract real value from HR data —productivity trends, workloads, absence patterns— while keeping privacy as a design principle rather than a patch bolted on at the end.

What does the R&D&I Project involve?

Verso 20 is built around three lines of work that reinforce one another:

  • Data pseudonymisation. We apply techniques that decouple information from each employee’s specific identity. This makes it possible to analyse the performance of a team or a department without exposing identifiable personal data, in line with what the Reglamento General de Protección de Datos (RGPD, Spain’s application of the EU General Data Protection Regulation) requires.
  • Artificial intelligence to assess productivity. AI models that detect patterns and bottlenecks from already-pseudonymised data, giving management aggregated, actionable insight instead of individual surveillance.
  • Optimising workplace wellbeing. Cross-referencing productivity information with workload and rest indicators to prevent overexertion, encourage the right to digital disconnection and improve people’s experience within the company.

The heart of the project is that these three pillars are not understood in isolation: pseudonymisation is what allows AI to analyse without intruding, and analysis is what makes it possible to act on wellbeing objectively.

Impact and benefits of the project

The results of Verso 20 are being incorporated progressively into LapsoWork’s solutions, with a direct impact on the day-to-day running of SMEs:

  • Greater data security. Pseudonymisation reduces the risk associated with processing personal information and makes it easier to comply with the RGPD and the LOPDGDD (Spain’s data protection act).
  • Productivity analysis that respects labour rights. Management gets a clear view of the organisation’s performance without resorting to intrusive individual monitoring, something that is especially relevant in remote-working environments.
  • More efficient HR management. Fewer manual tasks, decisions based on reliable data and better allocation of resources and shifts within the team.

For an SME, this translates into something very concrete: making better decisions about its workforce without opening the door to legal problems or eroding the trust of the people who work there.

Verso 20 is not a one-off project, but part of LapsoWork’s ongoing commitment to applied innovation.
